Frequently Asked Questions
The Eisenhower Matrix (also called Urgent-Important Matrix) is a time management tool that divides tasks into four quadrants: Urgent & Important (Do First), Important & Not Urgent (Schedule), Urgent & Not Important (Delegate), and Not Urgent & Not Important (Eliminate).
List all your tasks, then categorize each one. Tasks that are both urgent and important go in Q1 (do immediately). Important but not urgent go in Q2 (schedule). Urgent but not important go in Q3 (delegate). Neither go in Q4 (eliminate).
The matrix is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th US President, who used this decision-making framework. It was popularized by Stephen Covey in his book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People".
Quadrant 2 (Important but Not Urgent) is considered the most important for long-term success. This includes planning, relationship building, and personal development โ activities that prevent Q1 crises.
